Just purchased a Reddit account or thinking about buying one? This guide covers the best practices for transferring a Reddit account to a new owner while minimizing the risk of suspension.
Reddit has sophisticated systems for detecting account transfers, including device fingerprinting, IP tracking, and behavioral analysis. Following these steps carefully will significantly reduce the chances of your newly purchased account getting flagged or suspended.
1. Finding Your Account Information
After purchasing an account on the UpvoteMax marketplace, you will receive the account credentials via email. This typically includes:
- Reddit username
- Reddit password
- Associated email address and password (where available)
Keep these credentials safe. You will need the username first to verify the account status before logging in.
2. Verify the Account's Status Before Logging In
All accounts on our marketplace are verified to be active before being listed. However, you should always manually verify the account's status before logging in by visiting the account's profile page:
old.reddit.com/user/username(Replace "username" with the purchased account's username)
If the profile page loads and shows the account's post history, karma, and account age, the account is active and you can proceed to log in.
Our Replacement Policy
UpvoteMax is not responsible for any account suspensions after the account has been logged into. All accounts are verified to be active before being listed on the marketplace.
In the rare event that a suspended account is purchased, do not attempt to log in. Contact us immediately on Telegram. Our support team will check the account's status. If we verify that you have not accessed the account, we will replace the order or issue a refund.
Please note that all replacement and refund requests must be made within 24 hours of purchase. After 24 hours, we're unfortunately unable to process any claims — so we recommend verifying your account as soon as possible after buying.
Accounts that have been logged into by the customer cannot be refunded or replaced.
3. Logging In & Avoiding Suspensions
There are a few different methods you can use to access your newly purchased account. The method you choose depends on how many accounts you own and your technical comfort level.
Option A: Without a Proxy (Personal Wi-Fi or Mobile Network)
If you have fewer than 4 or 5 Reddit accounts and don't plan on purchasing more in the future, it's best to skip proxies entirely and use your personal internet connection. Your home/office Wi-Fi or mobile data will work fine. Reddit is very sensitive to proxy usage, and it is safer to use your personal network even if you have experienced account suspensions on your network in the past. Reddit does not ban entire networks, so your new account will not be affected.
Clear Cookies & Cache: Reddit links accounts together that log in on the same browser or mobile app. If one linked account gets suspended, all linked accounts can be affected too. Before logging into your new account:
- Log out of any existing Reddit account
- Clear all Reddit cookies and site data from your browser
- Clear your browser cache as well
Separate Browsers for Separate Accounts: If you're already using one account on Chrome, use another browser (e.g., Firefox) for the new account. Accounts used in the same browser are "linked", so one ban affects all linked accounts. Keeping your accounts on separate browsers prevents this.
Mobile Apps: If using the Reddit app on Android or iOS, reinstall the app before logging into a new account. Otherwise, the new account will be "linked" to the old account, and if the old account gets suspended, the new one will too. Accounts that are simultaneously logged in on one Reddit app are also linked together permanently.
Option B: With a Proxy
If you manage multiple Reddit accounts (5+), using proxies can help isolate each account. However, Reddit is extremely sensitive to proxy quality.
Check Proxy Quality: Test your proxy before using it with Reddit. Use a tool like pixelscan.net to make sure the proxy isn't flagged or blacklisted.
Consistency & Rotation: Avoid low-quality rotating residential proxies that frequently change IP mid-session. This can trigger a suspension. If you plan on using a rotating residential proxy, make sure it has a minimum sticky session duration of at least 30 minutes.
No VPNs: Do not access Reddit with a VPN. Most VPN IPs are easily detected and will likely cause an immediate account suspension.
Anti-Detect Browsers: If you manage many accounts, consider using an anti-detect browser to automatically manage each account's cookies, cache, and fingerprint. Create a unique browser profile for each account. If you aren't familiar with how to properly configure an anti-detect browser, it might be best to avoid using one.
4. Logging Into Accounts With 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication)
Some accounts come with two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. If your account includes a 2FA secret key in the credentials, Reddit will ask you for a 6-digit verification code when you log in. Here's how to get it:
Step 1: Go to 2fa.live
Open 2fa.live in your browser. Paste the 2FA secret key from your account credentials into the "2FA Secret" field, then click Submit.

Step 2: Copy the 6-Digit Code
After clicking Submit, a 6-digit code will appear in the "2FA Code" field below. Copy this code and paste it into Reddit's 2FA verification prompt when logging in. The code refreshes every 30 seconds, so use it right away.

5. Warming Up the Account
After logging in, do not start posting or commenting right away. A sudden change in behavior from a dormant account can trigger Reddit's anti-spam systems. Take your time warming up the account:
First 3-4 Days
Simply browse Reddit. Join new subreddits. Upvote and downvote posts. Do not make any comments or posts during this period. Let the account build natural activity signals.
After 3-4 Days
You can gradually start making comments on posts. If the account doesn't have much karma, start with beginner-friendly subreddits that don't have minimum karma requirements. Slowly increase activity over the following days.
After a Week or Two
You can gradually start making posts or comments containing links. Avoid posting links until the account has been "warmed up" for at least 6 or 7 days.
Once the account feels stable (after 4-7 days of activity), you can change the password and update the recovery email to one you control. Do not rush this — changing credentials too quickly after a login from a new device can flag the account.
It is best to take as much time as you can afford to warm up a newly transferred account. This will help prevent account suspension but does not guarantee that the account won't be suspended. Reddit's anti-spam systems are unpredictable, but careful, gradual usage significantly reduces the risk.
6. Common Mistakes to Avoid
- ✕Don't change the password immediately. Wait until the account is warmed up (4-7 days). Changing credentials right after logging in from a new device is a red flag.
- ✕Don't post links in the first week. Reddit's spam filter is aggressive with new-device logins. Wait until the account has established normal activity.
- ✕Don't use a VPN. Most VPN IPs are flagged by Reddit and will result in immediate suspension.
- ✕Don't log into multiple accounts on the same browser. This links the accounts together. If one gets banned, all linked accounts get banned too.
- ✕Don't skip the status check. Always verify the account is active at old.reddit.com/user/USERNAME before logging in. This protects your replacement eligibility.
- ✕Don't go from zero to aggressive posting. Sudden spikes in activity from a previously dormant account are the #1 trigger for Reddit's anti-spam system.
Summary
Understanding these steps and following them carefully will significantly improve your chances of successfully using a purchased Reddit account. Transfer of a Reddit account to a new owner is never 100% guaranteed, but if you follow the guidelines above and take your time warming up the account, you are very likely to succeed.
